Brief History of Sir Victor Uwaifor

PROF. SIR VICTOR UWAIFOR (MON) Uwaifor a highlife musician was born in Benin City, Edo State Nigeria 1 March 1941. He began playing guitar when he was 12 years old. He studied graphics in the university and majored in Sculpture at his master’s degree. He played in the band of many great musicians like Stephen Osadebe and Fred Coker before forming his own band Melody Maestros in 1965. He was proficient in playing Electric guitar, Flute, Saxophone, Electric Piano, Percussion and Vocals. Victor Uwaifor who was popularly called ‘the guitar boy’ was not only a musician; he was also a Sculptor, Musical instrument inventor, University Lecturer and the first Honourable Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria. Majek Fashek Majekodunmi Fasheke was a Nigerian popular Reggae musician. He was born in February 1963. Although he was born and raised in Benin city where his mother was a native, he was a native of Ijesha , Osun State, Nigeria. Apart from being an international reggae musician, he was also a trumpeter, guitarist and an actor. The news of his death broke early this morning, 2nd of June, 2020 at 57. Some of his works are: 1. Enharmonic Notes

Enharmonic note is a note with two theoretical names and same sound. Examples of Enharmonic notes on a keyboard   Analysis A black key next to a white key is its sharp. For instance the next black key to C note in the image above is C# (C sharp). That means it raises the the note (C) by a semitone. A black key before a white key is its flat. For instance the black key before note D is Db (D flat). That means it lowers the note (D) by a semitone. Five Major Enharmonic Notes 1. C# is the same as Db 2. D# is the same as Eb 3. F# is the same as Gb 4. G# is the same as Ab 5. A# is the same as Bb
