Become A Church Keyboardist In 7 Days. Lesson 2
Introduction-
Make sure you have practise lesson 1 before you lay your hand on this lesson 2.
In our previous lesson we learnt how to find note C and middle C. Here we'll learn a complete scale of C Major on a keyboard. A complete scale of C major is as follows:
C D E F G A B C
d r m f s l t d
New letters here are A B C (l t d) and they are not difficult to find because they are the next three notes from note G to the next C (white keys).
Since there are 5 fingers on each hand, then some of the fingers would be repeated to play a whole scale which consist of 8 notes. Below are the finger arrangement to play a full scale of C Major:
1 2 3, 1 2 3 4 5 Right Hand Fingers
C D E F G A B C
d r m f s l t d
Finger 1 - 3 would play twice before 4 and 5 can play the last two note. What happen after the comma is called finger crossing(like a start all over from finger 1). Practice this over and over, first in ascending order and later descending order. Make sure you are close to perfect before you practice the left hand.
Left hand arrangement is as follows
C D E F G A B C
d r m f s l t d
5 4 3 2 1, 3 2 1 Left Hand Finger Arrangement
Practice over time in ascending and descending other. After finger 1, there is a comma which indicate a crossing. The finger 3 would have to cross over finger 1 to play the last three notes. Don't forget that left hand would play from a lower C on the left side to the middle C (as discussed in lesson 1).
After both hands has been independently practiced, then you can try to combine both hands slowly. It always seem difficult or impossible to learn but if you are determined and not too anxious, you'll master it.
