Musical Instruments
Definition :
Musical instruments are all materials and devices used in accompanying music, they are also used to present the music.
Musical instruments can be group in to three groups, with each of them having sub groups:
1. Western musical Instruments
2. African Traditional Musical instruments
3. Human Body
(A) Western Musical Instrument
These are instruments that has root in European countries. Example, Trumpet, Saxophone, Violin, Drum set, Piano etc They are grouped into five families:
(a) Woodwind Family
(b) Brass Family
(c) Percussion Family
(d) String Family
(e) keyboard Instruments
(B) African Traditional Musical Instruments
These are instruments which are built and commonly used in African countries. Example, Bata, Gangan, Fere, Udu,Kakaaki etc. There are four families of them:
(a) Membranophone
(b) Chordiophone
(c) Aerophone
(d) Idiophone
(C) The Human Body
The human body serves as musical instrument at one point or the other. Below are some of those times:
i. Human voice
ii. The two hands ( Hand clap)
iii. The fingers (snap)
